Our Privacy Promise

Readers in Ireland reach these prices without meeting a consent dialogue first, and that is not an oversight. Nothing on PreciousMetalPrices.com follows you around: no analytics tag, no advert, no cookie. Those are testable statements rather than reassurances, and everything below explains how to test them for yourself.

What we do NOT do

  • No Google Analytics — No measurement platform is embedded in these pages: neither Google Analytics nor Matomo, Plausible or any self-hosted alternative.
  • No advertising — No display banners, no paid placements, no affiliate links to bullion sellers. Nobody pays to influence what appears on this page.
  • No cookies — Not one cookie is written for tracking, marketing or measurement, which is exactly why no consent banner ever stands between you and the price.
  • No fingerprinting — No script inspects your fonts, canvas, screen or hardware in order to derive a device signature.
  • No data selling — Nothing personal is gathered in the first place, so there is nothing to retain, nothing to monetise and nothing to pass to a third party.

What we do

  • SSL/TLS A+ — Traffic runs over an encrypted connection that independent testing rates A+, with HSTS enabled, modern cipher suites and OCSP stapling.
  • Hosted in Germany — The servers are Hetzner machines on German soil, so a request from Ireland stays inside the European Economic Area from start to finish.
  • EU CDN with DDoS protection — Static files are delivered by bunny.net in Slovenia, behind a web application firewall and DDoS mitigation. Pages arrive faster, jurisdiction remains European, and no American cloud provider handles the traffic.
  • GDPR compliant — The GDPR applies directly in Ireland, with the Data Protection Commission as the supervisory authority for readers here. Because so little is recorded to begin with, data minimisation describes the actual architecture rather than a line in a policy.
  • Open-source technology — The application is built on Laravel, an open-source framework whose code is public and widely reviewed. No commercial tracking library and no external script is pulled into the page.
  • Market data — The daily reference prices come from professional market data feeds and are updated every day.

Anonymous Page View Measurement

Knowing which pages readers actually use is worth something, so page views are tallied. The method is deliberately built so that no individual can be picked out of the records afterwards, by us or by anyone else.

What we measure

The path that was requested — the gold price page, say — together with four broad buckets: desktop or mobile, browser family, operating system and language preference. Each one is stored as a plain count and never combined into a profile.

What we do NOT measure

No IP address, no session identifier, no visitor ID, no reading time, no click sequence, no recognition of anyone coming back. One view says nothing about the next, and tying two of them to a single person is not possible with what gets written down.

How it works technically

Loading a page fires one tiny request at our own server, a beacon carrying the path and nothing besides. The device and browser buckets are read out of the ordinary User-Agent header that your browser attaches to every request in any case. No cookie is set, no fingerprinting runs, and no data reaches an outside party.

In practice the records support a sentence such as "the gold price page was opened 500 times today, 60 per cent of them from phones". They can never support "this reader checked gold at 14:32 and then opened the calculator". Picture the tally counter above a shop door: footfall is all it registers, and identity is not something it is able to represent at all.

Verifiable

A privacy claim made by a website is worth very little on its own, so here is how to put each one to the test:

Press F12, switch to the Network tab and reload this page. There is no request to Google, none to Facebook, none to any advertising or analytics host, for the plain reason that none is ever made. The only thing kept is the path you asked for, recorded on our own server, with no cookie, no third party and no lasting record of your IP address.

Why this matters

Once a precious metals site lives on advertising revenue and dealer commissions, the reader turns into the product: a tag logs every click, a consent wall blocks the content you came for, and audience data flows out to ad networks. The design goal quietly shifts from explaining a price to nudging a purchase.

This site is put together on the opposite principle. Readers in Ireland get live prices, calculators and guides, and the bill is never settled in personal data.

Cookie banner? No!
