Ratios Now Come With Their Own History
A ratio of 67 means little on its own — is that high or low? Every ratio page now places the current figure in its own past: a scale showing the historical low, the median and the high, plus how many months since 1968 were below today's level. The scale is drawn to the value, not to the percentile, so you can see that the median does not sit halfway between the extremes. Calculated from 701 monthly closing prices; the gold-platinum ratio, for example, is currently near the top of its historical range.
